One evening, the winter of their senior year, Grace found herself somewhere she never thought she would be - her first men's basketball game ever - the exact one this picture was taken at! Little did Tanner know, but she sat right behind him when this was taken. Almost immediately after the game, Grace followed Tanner on Instagram, and they began texting casually. They hung out for the first time at the library, where both were full of nerves. But after that day, they were inseparable - getting together almost every day leading up to graduation.

Tanner and Grace took their first-ever picture together - this Polaroid! During the senior banquet, both preparing to graduate and go - what they thought was - their separate ways, Tanner asked Grace for one picture. Little did they know that this Polaroid would become a piece of history in their relationship!

Graduation day finally came, which also came with bittersweet emotions. Graduating meant Tanner left to go home to Colorado, and wouldn't return until that Fall to play his fifth year of basketball. They said their goodbyes shortly after this picture was taken. Tanner flew back to Colorado, and Grace remained in Minneapolis.

Still, the two kept in contact every single day, with countless nightly phone calls that were hours long (they both love to yap). One night, Tanner broke the news that he wanted to come to Minnesota "to play a summer league basketball game." They both knew that was his way of saying he wanted to visit her. So he flew to Minnesota for the week, where he spent every day with Grace exploring the city and doing fun activities. They concluded his "basketball" trip with a mini golf night, where this picture was taken. Although they weren't even dating yet, Grace called this picture a "soft launch" for her Instagram. They said goodbye the next morning, where Tanner flew back home to Colorado.

It was a matter of time before Tanner convinced Grace to fly to him. He bought her a plane ticket, and she was there shortly after. Because of her delayed flight, the two didn't arrive at his house until late at night. Grace was exhausted and ready to sleep, but Tanner insisted they do a house tour before she went to bed. Grace thought, "Why on earth does this man want to do a full house tour at 2 in the morning?!" But as they made their way to the kitchen, she was greeted with the most thoughtful and exciting surprise. Tanner asked her to be his girlfriend that night in the most unique and special way. Naturally, she said yes!

They spent the week together in Colorado, enjoying each other's company, and Tanner stepped into his surprise calling as the best tour guide Colorado had ever seen. Grace returned to Minneapolis at the end of the week, and the two looked forward to seeing each other the next month when Tanner moved out to Minneapolis again for his final year of basketball.

The two were reunited for the school year! They spent every single day together and went on countless adventures. Apart from growing closer and loving each other more, they both were strengthened in their walks with the Lord as well. Tanner made the decision to become baptized. Grace grew closer to God than she had ever been before. They both felt the Lord blessing their relationship, and they both knew they were where they were supposed to be, and that God was bringing them together.

One adventure topped all the rest. Tanner and Grace travelled to Portugal. Tanner went to look into playing professional basketball overseas, and Grace accompanied him. The two went sightseeing every day and experienced a new culture together.

One of the first nights of the trip, Tanner and Grace spent the day away from the rest of the team. They explored the city of Lisbon, went shopping, and tried new food. To end the special day, Tanner took Grace to dinner at a beautiful beach town called Cascais. The two enjoyed a beautiful evening with each other, but the night wasn't over yet...

Tanner told Grace he wanted to take a walk around the surrounding trails. He took Grace down a beautiful path overlooking the Atlantic Ocean. It was there, on that cliff, that he popped the question. Overjoyed, Grace immediately said YES!

So, what's next? Following their marriage, the two will enjoy their honeymoon by touring the beautiful country of Italy for three weeks. They will be visiting cities such as Milan, Rome, Venice, and many more. Their honeymoon begins on May 27th! In September, Tanner and Grace will be moving to Colorado to begin their new life and create a home together.
